Turn Dad’s old ties into door decor.
You’ll need a 14-inch wire wreath form from a crafts shop and 19 ties. Cut all ties but one into 15-inch lengths. Position the narrow end of first cut tie, front side up, on a section of the wreath.
Wrap tie around form until pointed end is positioned as shown, hiding the rolled tie; secure with pins. Repeat, overlapping ties slightly. Flip wreath over; sew rolled-up ties to the backs of points. Pin on the uncut, bowed tie.
Make a personalized monogram wreath this year. Cut a letter out of heavy cardboard and spray-paint it green. Punch holes around the cutout’s perimeter, shape garland on the front to form the letter, and attach it with wire through the holes. Add ornaments, then hang by wire threaded through holes punched through the top.
The warm glow of copper gives this graphic reindeer three-dimensional presence on a door or wall. For Christmas, decorate the easy-to-assemble deer with a red ball nose and a perched bird ornament or loop the antlers with a small green wreath. After the holidays, remove the ornaments, and the deer becomes all-season wall art.
